Travel Report: Study Tour – Exploring Hungarian Experiences with a Touch of Slow Tourism
Our members took part in an inspiring two-day study trip discovering high-potential destinations for inbound groups while also refreshing their professional knowledge. The programme was much more than a simple site inspection — we experienced first-hand what these locations can offer our groups.
Day 1 – Hospitality and Experience (Gödöllő → Eger)
• Lázár Equestrian Park (soon: Mythos): visiting the new hotel and event facilities
• Scharioth Castle, Nagyréde: exclusive private fine-dining venue and event garden.
• Matyódesign, Tard: an unforgettable slow-tourism experience with dance, embroidery and authentic local hospitality.
• Eger: visit of the renewed Flóra 4* and Merlot 3* hotels, followed by a wine tasting dinner at Tibor Gál’s innovative winery.
Day 2 – Horses, Castles and Water (Szilvásvárad → Poroszló)
• Szilvásvárad State Stud Farm: carriage ride, stud visit and an in-depth introduction to the Lipizzaner heritage.
• Kétútköz / Gräfl Castle: beautifully restored private estate with a Michelin-recommended restaurant and organic farm.
• Tisza-lake Ecocentre, Poroszló: after a traditional strudel tasting we visited the visitor center
• The tour concluded with a wine tasting at Juhász Winery in the Szépasszonyvölgy.
Our thanks go to Cecília Kollár (Come to See Hungary) for the organisation, to our partners for their excellent hospitality, and to all members for their active participation. We have been recommending many of these sites for years — this tour reaffirmed their value for future group programs.
